Past simple is just to say that something started and finished at once and for example
"I finished my homework very late last night"
and past continuous is to say that you were doing something and got interrupted forexample
i was doing my homework when i heard the crash
el pasado simple es para expresar que algo paso y se acabo en ese momento.
